Japan-China Joint Research 2001
"The New Shape of Japanese-Chinese Exchange in the IT Era" Intermediate Study Session Held in Beijing

September 27 - 28, 2001

The Second Symposium on "Changes in Bilateral Relations Caused by the IT Revolution" was held as a joint research event between our Institute and the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations in Beijing.

Taking part from the Japanese side were Kinichi Yoshihara, Executive Director of the Asia Forum Japan; Professor Yasuhide Yamanouchi, GLOCOM, International University, Professor Shin Sugimoto, Faculty of Economics; Musashi University, Susumu Kitazawa, Managing Director of our Institute; and Izumi Harada, Senior Research Fellow of our Institute. They were on hand to deepen the debate with the young researchers of the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations. The researchers recognized the major changes that are taking place in the political, economic and social fabric of both Japan and China in the wake of the IT revolution, and continued their studies towards their final report, focusing on the shape of Japan-China relations and the way the two countries should foster a bilateral dialog under the new conditions of the post-Jiang Zemin era.
