Symposium Debates for a Friendly Exchange of Opinions with the Brookings Institution
Three research members of the Brookings Institution (USA), a research organization with cooperative ties with our own Institute, came to Japan to attend a symposium debate for a friendly exchange of views on Octiber 11, 2001.
On hand from the Brookings Institution were Vice President James Steinberg (Senior Fellow Bates Gill, and Senior Fellow Ed Lincoln.)
Present from the Japanese side were Yuji Tanahashi (Advisor of our Institute and President of JAPEX), Kin-ichi Yoshihara (Executive Director of the Asia Forum Japan), Chairman Tadahiro Sekimoto of the Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies, Vice-Chairman Yoshihiro Suzuki and President Tsutomu Senda of the Institute. The topics of the debate included the international and economic trends in the post-September 11 world, the position of Japan in the world.
