"Japan-China Cooperation in the IT Field in the Broadband Age" - Intermediate Study Session held on September 13, 2002

This intermediate study session who a part of the joint research project between our Institute and the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations and took place in the Conference Room of the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations in Beijing.
The spread of the broadband such as the ADSL (middle-band) is already making a progress in the urban parts of both Japan and China. Electronic commerce (EC) and electronic governments are about to become a reality on a substantial scale. In Japan we have the e-Japan project while in China progress is under why with plans to make Beijing a Cyber-City in anticipation of the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Under these circumstances, we have examined the possibilities and problems of Japan-China cooperation in the IT field under the following three sub-themes:
1. Establishment of an information-based society
2. Information security
3. Exchange of IT experts.
