The Joint Japan-U.S. Symposium was held at the American Association of Physics in Washington D.C., USA, on December 5, 2001.
The debate focused on the problem of the North-South and East-West Digital Divide from the political, security, economic and cultural perspectives.
Also taking part in the Symposium were representatives from companies, universities, and NGOs in the Washington D.C. area, who engaged in an active exchange of opinions with the participants.
