Globalization Forum 2002
"Advancing Globalization and Japan-Russia Exchange"
Attentively listening audience
The Institute for International Socio-Economic Studies and the Gorbachev Foundation co-hosted "Globalization Forum 2002" in the Large Conference Hall inside the Gorbachev Foundation Building in Moscow on November 25, 2002.
This Forum, the second leg of the Forum held in Tokyo the year before, focused on the bilateral problems between Japan and Russia. The event attracted some 30 participants, including researchers on Japan-Russia economic affairs as well as members from the industrial and political communities of both countries.
Under the main theme of "Advancing Globalization and Japan-Russia Exchange," an exchange of views took place on such topics as the acceleration of globalization and the structural changes of industry, the changes in Japan-Russia economic exchange (anticipating the accession of Russia to the WTO), and the way in which the two countries should engage in technological (industrial) exchange.
After the Forum session, a reception was held at the Restaurant President inside the Gorbachev Foundation Building. This provided the participants with an opportunity to continue their exchanges in a relaxed atmosphere.
