Fiscal 2007 Japan-China Joint Research Project: “Environment Risk Management and International Relations” – Intermediate Study Session
Energy and environment are currently the most urgent issues that need to be solved on a global scale and their magnitude of importance directly affects the development, economic growth and security both in developed countries and developing countries. Security of energy and climate in particular is already becoming a primary theme of diplomatic strategies. This issue has become a huge challenge for China and Japan, in terms of international relationships with territorial issues casting a shadow over it. In the fiscal year 2007, our joint research with CICIR (China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations) will focus on risk management regarding energy and environment from the perspective of a problem-oriented thinking. After the preliminary meetings in Tokyo on April 27 and in Beijing on May 14, the intermediate study session was held at the conference room of the CICIR.
