Fiscal 2009 Japan-China Joint Research Project: Internet Hegemony and Governance – Intermediate Study Session

July 22, 2009

The intermediate study session under the Japan-China Joint Research Project was held at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) in Beijing. After lively exchanges of opinions from a wide range of perspectives on this year’s theme of the “Internet Hegemony and Governance”, the participants confirmed a clear direction for the joint research.

As trends in China, seen as one of the polarities in the future multipolar structure, and its governance of the Internet are extremely important matters for both Japan and China with the structure of the hegemony in the Internet society shifting from unipolar concentration in US to multipolarization in response to the trends developing in international society, the participants engaged in serious in-depth discussions.
