Crisis Management Seminar
“BCM (Business Continuity Management): New International Risk Management Standards”

September 10, 12 and 13, 2007, Beijing, Suzhou, Shanghai

The seminar entitled ‘BCM (Business Continuity Management): New International Risk Management Standards’ was held in Beijing, Suzhou and Shanghai, sponsored by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd., and supported by JETRO and IISE. Our Chief Fellow Izumi Harada presented a lecture entitled ‘Corporate Risk Management – How to Approach Business Continuity during the Time of a Natural Disaster’, pointing to global standardization of the BCM and trends for BCM in China, and discussed future risk management framework for businesses and approaches to business continuity management, as well as the importance of early recovery from the disaster. The presentation by Mr. Masahiro Kaishi, Manager of the Shanghai Branch, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. was entitled ‘Preparing for an Accident in China – Suggestions from a Risk Survey’ which provided valuable suggestions as to how to prevent damage and how to respond to an accident based on the results of a risk survey of Japanese businesses operating in China. All of the three-city seminars were successful with attendance of more than 100 participants.
