NEC C&C Foundation seminar
“Framework for Information System for Security and Safety of Communities”
IISE supported the NEC C&C Foundation seminar “Framework for the Information System for the Security and Safety of Communities” together with the Citizens’ Congress on Promotion of Information Society, the Japan Productivity Center for Socio Economic Development; the e-Society Innovation Consortium; and the Center for Global Communications, the International University of Japan.
Mr. Yoshitaka Tanaka, Assistant Manager, Social Security Council Office for the Director-General for Policy Planning and Evaluation, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, gave the keynote speech on the latest developments with respect to the social security card system, after which case studies of the status of “eID” systems in Austria, Germany and France were presented. In the panel discussion that followed, Mr. Toshihiro Matsumura from Shiwa Township of Iwate Prefecture reported his township’s efforts to apply the Juki Card (resident registration card) to a multitude of purposes, while Mr. Natsuhiko Sakimura of the OpenID Foundation Japan described the concept of OpenID proposed by the private sector partnership. Lively discussion focused on the relationship between the Juki Card and social security card as well as issues in public sector-private partnerships.
