IoT-AI and Networking 2/7

Thanks to the internet evolution the information society was established and about 20 years later the concept of IoT (Internet of things) was invented to connect a variety of “things” in the network.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is now being added to combine connection (IoT) with intelligence (AI). The system and infrastructure of the next generation society is now being formed as if the nerve systems are developed and passing through to every corner of the society.
The nerves are the tissue responsible for biological activities such as Spirit, Perception and Action. IoT・AI Networking is new concept invented during new evolution phase where ICT is utilized fully to form the pseudo nerve system to control social activities of human. Internet has been developed as social infrastructure to supply information everywhere as if the water is pumped through water pipe. Efforts have been made to secure stable supply of information through a number of standardizations and secured system have connected the world, and people can share the information via electric mail and internet web.

IoT・AI networking is the new system which can take autonomous action through judging by itself the information obtained by visual camera as if human catch the image with their eyes. Images are perceived by eyes and ears, and the perceived information or image is judged by brain. Human will learn from experiences. It is getting possible that the computer can imitate these human behaviors. Human has its own behavior because human has its own way of perception or of thinking and different experience from others. In the same manner computer can change its behavior and adjust itself flexibly to the environment. In this new IoT・AI networking system the network is not fixed but flexible to change its form in polymorphic way to cope with the changes of environment.
For example, when we think about the next generation urban transportation system, the system is characterized with 3 features secured by polymorphic IoT・AI networking as so described in the drawing.
The information is flexibly defined by the place and situation, and is transferred and ever-changing, so it might not be right to think that the prioritized process of stored information should be a key. That might be obsolete. The information is repeatedly and flexibly created, changed and processed on the spot.
In March this year IISE hosted the IoT Study Symposium where Professor Katsuhiro NISHINARI of Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo has been taking a leading role in discussion, and he made presentation on the concept of Quasi-Optimization in order to help the attendees to understand the theme of what the optimization is and what main features are in this new IoT・AI networking coping the changes in polymorphic way.
In order to plan next generation system we should start with the definition of concept to pin down the real original significance of everything, then, will move to create new system of the nation and enterprise. This is applicable not only to the real world, but to virtual world created by the information closely associated with the real world.
